Meet the Staff

Bishop Christopher Keough, ThD, DMin, MDiv, Pastor

Bishop Christopher Keough was ordained a priest in 1993. He served parishes in the Episcopal Diocese of Milwaukee, and was received as a priest in the Charismatic Episcopal Church (CEC) in 2007. He was appointed Vicar (Priest in Charge) of Bread of Life in November of 2011. He served as the Canon to the Ordinary (Assistant to the Bishop) in the Central Diocese for 15 years, and was Consecrated as the Bishop Co-Adjutor of the Central Diocese on December 5, 2025.. He served three years as Chair of the CEC Commission for Church Planting and Development in the United States, and as a member of the CEC International Commission on Canons.

Bishop Chris received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in German and Spanish. He received the degree Master of Divinity (MDiv) from Nashotah House Seminary, and the degree Doctor of Ministry (DMin) from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. He received the degree Doctor of Theology (ThD) from Andersonville Baptist Theological Seminary in Camilla, Georgia. He is a life-professed member of the Order of Franciscan Penitents (OFP) a religious order in the Charismatic Episcopal Church.

Bishop Chris was married to Dawn for 39 years, she passed away on October 12, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. They have one child, Sarah. Dawn was a graphic designer and web site developer for a Milwaukee company for 28 years. She and Bishop Chris enjoyed being avid lovers, dealers and collectors of Victorian antiques. Sarah graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee with a degree in English and Psychology, and from Montana Wilderness School of the Bible. She then worked two years for Americorps in Federal Way (Seattle), Washington. Sarah earned the degree of Master of Divinity at Seattle Pacific University in 2016. She earned a PhD in Theology at Boston University in 2021, after which she served briefly as a Chaplain at Meriter Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin before entering the service. She is currently a Chaplain serving as an active duty Captain in the United States Air Force.

Father Dennis Kubena

November 6, 1947 - November 4, 2025

Fr. Dennis Kubena was ordained to the priesthood on September 14, 2021 - The Feast of the Holy Cross. Prevoiusly ordained in the Evangelical Church Alliance, Fr. Dennis served as a hospital Chaplain for many years.

Rev. Ralph E. Modjeska, Deacon

Rev. Ralph Edward Modjeska is the Deacon at Bread of Life, ordained March 14, 2018. He is a retired firefighter having served more than thirty years with the Milwaukee Fire Dept. Deacon Ralph currently holds the rank of Battalion Chief, and serves as Chaplain for the Waukesha County Fire Chiefs Association, and Flight for Life of Southeast Wisconsin. He is a member of the Federation of Fire Chaplains, and the International Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Foundation. He lives in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

Father Dean Van Brunt

Fr. Dean Van Brunt graduated Nashotah House Seminary and was ordained to the priesthood on December 12, 2002. He served as a Chaplain in the United States Navy and then worked at the VA Hospital in North Chicago, Illinois for several years. In addition to being Associate Proest at Bread of Life, Fr. Dean serves as a Hospice Chaplain for a provider in Southeastern Wisconsin.
